How to choose electric actuator?

Valve electric device is another term for electric actuators. It has different names depending on what it is being used for. This part is called a valve electric device in the industrial pipeline valve industry, but it is called an electric actuator in the instrument industry.

Electric actuators are widely used in various pipeline installation fields such as petroleum, chemical industry, light industry, power station, metallurgy, HVAC, medicine, fire protection, and water treatment.

Valves are essential equipment used in industrial pipelines to control how different substances and liquids flow through the pipes.  This is because electric valves are whole units that can work independently, unlike pneumatic, hydraulic.

Electric valves used in industrial settings must be more reliable and safe. Electric actuators are crucial for electric valve security and dependability, but only if the valve can guarantee its performance and longevity. So. the different functions and levels of control that electric actuators offer. It gives a complete picture of what the electric valve machine can do regarding technology.

Electric actuator selection considerations

Choose electric actuators based on valve type

There are a significant number of distinct types of valves, and thsir operations vary from one another. You can usually open or shut a valve by adjusting the plate angle or raising it When pairing a valve with an electric actuator。

1.Rotary electric actuator (angle <360 degrees)

The rotation of the output shaft of the electric actuator is less than 360 degrees, usually 90 degrees to realize the valve opening and closing process control. There are two different kinds of electric actuators in this category. Their names are the direct connection type and the base crank type. These divisions are set up based on the different ways the interface can be set up. In a direct connection electric actuator, the electric actuator's output shaft is directly connected to the valve stem. The term for this kind of connection is "direct connection.' 'Base crank type" refers to an engine that has a crank that connects the output shaft to the valve stem, This particular type of electric actuator can bo used with butterfly valves, ball valves, plug valves, and many other types of valves.

2.Multi-turn electric actuator (angle>360 degrees)

Most of the time, you will need to spin the electric actuator's output shaft quite a few times to get the control you need over how the valve opens and closes. The amount of rotation that electric actuators can do is more than 360 degrees. This elactric actuator works with gate valves, globe valves, and any other kind of valve that works similarly.

3.Straight stroke (linear motion)

The rest of the electric actuator moves around in a circle, but the output shaft moves in a straight lino. This electric actuator can be used with

single-seat control valves, double-seat control valves, and many other control valves.

Determine the force or torque to be output by the valve electric actuator

1.Torque is the most essential component of electric actuators that caln turn 90 degrees repeatedly. The unit that is being used to measure is the Newton meter. For the valve to open and close properly, torque mutst be applied to it. If the torque is not high enough, it might not be able to open and close.

2. The force, measured in newtons(N), is the most important thing to ccaonsider when talking about a linear electric actuator. Similarly, if you don't put enough force on the valve, it won't be able to open and close the right way.

When choosing electric actuators for valves, there is a simple ruleto follow; the option with a larger capacity is better than the option with a smaller capacity.

Determine the control mode of the electric actuator according to the requirements

There are many ways to control an electric actuator, but the most common ones are the on/off and modulating type. We'll talk more about these two kinds of control below.

1.On-off type

Often, an on-off type electric actuator is needed to control whether the valve is open or closed. The valve is either fully open or fully shut.  It is not necessary for a valve of this type to be able to precisely control the flow of the medium.

2.Modulating type

The modulating electric actuator not only has an on/off switch built in butt the valve can also be moved to change the flow of the medium. This is done by changing how much voltage is sent to the actuator. Inaddition to these two things, it can also control the whole structure.
